The High Profile Adventure Camp 2010

WHAT:     4th Annual High Profile Adventure Camp & Lightning Strikes Adventure Race 

WHERE:  YMCA Camp Benson - Mount Carroll, Illinois 

WHEN:     Friday, March 26 - Sunday, March 28, 2010 

The camp is geared towards all skill and experience levels of adventure racers, from the newby just getting into the sport to the most seasoned.  The focus of this years camp will be on land navigation, fixed ropes (rappelling, ascending, and traversing), rock climbing, and canoe/kayak paddling skills.  Instruction is primarily in the field with some classroom sessions and plenty of hands-on practice. 

NEW FOR 2010!  The highlight of the camp will be a 8 hour sprint adventure race on Sunday featuring rogaine style navigation, mountain biking, paddling, caving and multiple fixed ropes!  The race is a USARA National Championship race qualifier and a Check Point Tracker Series sprint race.  The race will include two divisions; competitive for established teams and recreational for first timers.  The competitive race will be very challenging for even the most experienced teams while the fun race will be at a pace for all newcomers to thoroughly enjoy. 

The cost is only $175.00!  This includes two full days of expert instruction, Friday night seminars, Friday and Saturday night lodging in the Camp Benson cabins, a Saturday and Sunday morning breakfast, a Saturday night meal, a sprint adventure race, canoe rental, transportation during the camp, plenty of schwag, and a voucher for $25.00 off the 2010 Thunder Rolls Adventure Race. 

The camp is presented by Gerry Voelliger along with some of the most experienced, accomplished and dedicated racers, adventurers and volunteers in the sport of adventure racing.  Paddling instruction will be provided by Jeremy Rodgers from Boulder, Colorado.  As an elite adventure racer having raced in over 60 expedition races he currently paddles professionally for Clif Bar and KEEN and is a member fo the US Canoe and Kayak Team. The camp is sanctioned by the United States Adventure Racing Association and is one of only a few held nationwide in 2010. 

The camp is once again partners with Active Endeavors of the Quad Cities, Healthy Habits Bicycles and Nutrition, Coffee Hound,  ENViROMARK and Orthopaedic Specialists P.C.  Sponsors include ZANFEL, Clif Bar, KEEN, Immersion Research, SUUNTO, SPOT, Eco Lips, Sea to Summit and Black Diamond.  Over $10,000 worth of schwag will be given away!
