Title:
All-Nighter - CANCELED
When:
07-30-2010
Category:
Training

Description

Sorry folks, this year's all-nighter has been canceled.

I can't do it this year due to work commitments.

Don't worry, I'll make it twice as hard next year to make up for it.

Jeremy

Chicago Area Adventure Racing Association presents:

 All-Nighter 2010

Friday, July 30

9:00 pm

Are you training for a long race?  Thinking about trying your first 24 hour race this season?  Want to get some practice navigating and racing in the dark?

This is the perfect opportunity to practice the skills required to go all night.

Do you know how long the batteries on your headlamp will last?  Do you know how much caffeine you need to consume to make you last?  Need night navigation practice?  You can count on all this and more.

 What to expect:

  • TBD miles of paddling
  • TBD miles of trail running/trekking
  • TBD miles of biking
  • Short course options available
  • The course will be set with unmanned orienteering controls plotted via UTM coordinates (or copied from master map, if you prefer).
  • CP coordinates will be sent out the week prior to allow you extra time to ensure accurate plotting
  • CP’s will be given difficult ratings so you can avoid, or focus in on, tougher challenges
  • Expected time on the course is 8-12 hours
  • Unsupported
  • Rockin BBQ the next morning at 8 am

Teams of any size or individuals are welcome.  It’s going to be the hottest all-night rage in town.

 Map Ordering Info:

Order your map in advance from MyTopo.com using the link below.  I’m having you order the maps on your own because I will send out the coordinates a week prior.  That way you can take your time plotting (for those of you learning) as opposed to doing it that night.

Use promotional code disc50 to receive 50% off on your order.  Map price should then be $15.  Thanks MyTopo!

Post-race breakfast BBQ and AR talk:

8:00 am at the finish line.

Anyone who came to past year’s all-nighters will tell you I grill up a mean burger at 8:00 in the morning.  We’ll also discuss AR strategies, share tips and tricks.  Highly recommended for beginners.

 Cost:

$20 payable in cash at the start line.  Fees are intended to simply offset the cost of putting on the event.

More details will be posted as the course is finalized and date draws closer.
