The Chicago Area Adventure Racing Association presents:
 Night Navigation ClinicÂ
Saturday, 4/24
8 pm
Good navigation is one of the biggest success factors in any adventure race. And navigating at night is the most difficult form of navigation.  Â
In this clinic, racers will get hands-on instruction in how to become better night navigators. Special attention will be paid to AR-specific navigation issues (i.e. using USGS maps). The clinic will be oriented toward beginner and intermediate navigators.  Â
Clinic will consist of:
·        1 hr of discussion
·        Short nav course to practice your skills
·        Brief post-mortem to review what you could have done betterÂ
Location: Timber Ridge Forest Preserve, Wheaton, ILÂ
Directions:Clinic will be held just off a dirt parking lot on the NW corner of Geneva & County Farm Road. This lot is small, so you can also park at the Walgreen’s across the street.  Â
Bring a camp chair as there are no picnic tables at this location.  Â
Required gear (per-person): compass, pen, pencil
Recommended: long pants, change of socks/shoes, UTM plotter. Maps will be provided.  Â
Fee: $10, payable in cash or check at the start of the event. Fees are intended simply to offset the cost of putting on the event.Â
All who sign-up will be taken. Â

It is important to RSVP so I can ensure I have enough maps and course materials.  The most basic of AR skills is navigation, and you just can’t practice it enough. Don’t miss this opportunity. Â
You participate in this event at your own risk. Nothing whatsoever will be done to provide for your safety along the course. Participants are expected to follow all federal, state, and local laws as if they were on their own.Â
